Where your words and your voice go, in plain terms.

  1. Your desk stays in your browser

Matters, made documents, your classes, your Life notes and the day's counts are kept in this browser on this device, under your account. Studious keeps no copy on its server.

  2. On a shared computer, clear it

Because your desk lives in the browser, use Clear this device in Life before you leave a shared computer. A demo desk is cleared when you sign out.

  3. Replies are written by Claude

When you send a message, that matter's conversation goes to Anthropic's Claude, which writes the reply, together with your first name, your list of classes, and the text of any school material Studious reads for you. Studious stores none of it afterwards.

  4. Your voice stays on your device

Dictation records in your browser and writes your words out on your own device with Nightwatch's Words. The speech model downloads once from Hugging Face, and the software that runs it once from jsDelivr; the sound itself goes nowhere.

  5. Sign-in

Until the school's accounts connect, a demo sign-in keeps only your first name and an optional email in a signed cookie for twelve hours.

  6. The school's Dropbox is read, never emptied

The school's Dropbox connects later. Until then Studious reads and saves nothing there. Once connected, it will read and save into its own folder only, and delete and move nothing.

  7. The morning brief is public news

What may affect your day comes from Perplexity, or from xAI's Grok as the backup, about Saronno, Lombardy, Italy and today's date. At most one topic from a fixed list (trains, buses and metro, roads, weather, holidays, schools) goes with it, and never your own words.

  8. Students' emotions are never measured

Studious judges no student's emotions, stress, confidence or personality, and a placement level is always a suggestion a teacher confirms.
